Removable and functional appliances
Removable appliances and functional appliances are most often used in cases where one can take advantage of the child's growth to correct bite defects. This is what we call phase 1 treatment. This type of treatment is very effective in good cooperation with the patient, and it is common to start as early as 7-8 years of age.
Headgear are often used for cross-bites and lack of space, or to avoid lack of space. Removable appliances are used to correct deep bites, underbites, overbites, crossbites or inversion, among other things.
Removable appliances can be taken out for cleaning and eating. Some types of appliances are bonded to the teeth throughout the treatment.
